Open Access Policy

Commitment to Global Knowledge Dissemination

Lumina Literati Publishing (LLP) is fundamentally committed to the widespread dissemination of quality research and creative works. Our Open Access (OA) policy ensures that LLP’s publications are accessible to a global audience without financial or legal barriers, fostering a richer exchange of knowledge.

Guiding Principles

Accessibility: Our core goal is immediate, free access upon publication. Anyone can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to our OA publications without subscription fees or paywalls.

Transparency: Licensing terms, author rights, and permitted uses are clearly communicated for all OA publications, ensuring clarity for both creators and users.

Quality: Open Access publications undergo the same rigorous peer review and editorial processes as all LLP works, maintaining the highest standards of scholarly integrity.

Licensing and Rights

Creative Commons Licenses: LLP primarily utilizes Creative Commons (CC) licenses for its OA content. These standard licenses allow authors to grant specific permissions for reuse while retaining certain rights. Common licenses include:

CC BY (Attribution)

Allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the work, even commercially, as long as they credit the original author.

CC BY-SA (Attribution-ShareAlike)

Allows others to remix, adapt, and build upon the work, even commercially, provided they credit the author and license their new creations under identical terms.

CC BY-NC (Attribution-NonCommercial)

Allows others to remix, adapt, and build upon the work non-commercially, crediting the author. Derivatives don’t have to be licensed under the same terms.

Authors’ Rights: Authors retain copyright ownership of their OA works published with LLP. The chosen CC license defines how others may use the work, while authors maintain control. Authors are typically permitted to deposit pre-print and post-print versions in institutional repositories, following the terms of the specific CC license.

Publication Fees and Funding

Article Processing Charges (APCs): To cover the costs of publication (editorial management, peer review, production, digital archiving), LLP may charge APCs for Open Access publications. Specific APC information, varying by publication type, is provided during the submission process.

Waivers and Discounts: Recognizing the need for equitable access, LLP offers full waivers or discounts on APCs for authors with demonstrable need, particularly those from low- and middle-income countries or those lacking sufficient institutional funding. Authors can apply for waivers/discounts during submission, with eligibility assessed based on funding status and institutional affiliation.

Archiving and Preservation

Digital Archiving: LLP is committed to the long-term preservation of OA content. Our publications are deposited in secure, reputable digital archives to ensure continued accessibility over time.

Version Control: We maintain clear records of different publication versions (e.g., pre-print, accepted manuscript/post-print, version of record), ensuring readers access accurate and up-to-date information.

Compliance with Funding Mandates

Grant and Funding Agency Requirements: LLP actively supports authors in meeting the Open Access publishing mandates of their funding bodies. Authors should inform LLP of any specific funder requirements (e.g., specific CC license, repository deposit timelines) during the submission process.

We collaborate with authors to ensure compliance with all necessary terms, including specific licensing and deposit requirements.

Benefits of Open Access

Increased Visibility & Impact

OA dramatically broadens readership, leading to higher citation rates, wider recognition, and greater potential for collaborative opportunities.

Public Engagement

Free access empowers policymakers, educators, practitioners, and the general public to engage with research, fostering innovation and informed discussion.

Academic Freedom

OA promotes the unrestricted sharing of knowledge, supporting the core tenets of academic freedom and accelerating scholarly progress.

Policy Updates

LLP reserves the right to update or amend this Open Access Policy as necessary to align with evolving legal requirements, industry best practices, and technological advancements. Significant changes will be communicated to our authors and the wider community.
